My Role is to see patients over the age of six months, diagnose as appropriate and treat if needed. I can also refer for investigations or to secondary care if a specialist opinion is needed. I can advise patients on concerns or lifestyle issues which may not be considered medical if this is something they wish to change or improve. Part of our role is to be able to signpost patients to other clinicians or staff within the service who may be more appropriate to meet their needs or who can offer help and support. I have worked in healthcare for most of my adult life. After qualifying as a Nurse I worked in the hospital for several years within medicine before moving into General Practice.

I started as a treatment room Nurse before becoming a Practice Nurse specialising in Diabetes, Respiratory and Travel medicine before Qualifying as a Nurse practitioner and ultimately studying at a Master’s level to become an Advanced Nurse Practitioner.
